Stony Brook University has experienced four school closings since the spring semester began less than a month ago. Although, some commuter student’s don’t mind the cold, others find that the weather makes it difficult to commute from the South P-Lot.
“I wait 15-20 minutes sometimes for a bus,” said Amir Rashed, senior political science and biology major. The wait makes it difficult for Rashed to make it to class on time.
In order to combat the cold, commuters come to campus prepared for a long day spent commuting between classes.
“I like to make sure I have my biggest jacket, my scarves, anything that will keep me warm, anything fleece anything thermal,” said Nishtha Vora, senior political science major. “It’s a normal day just bundled up in five or six layers.”

Some commuter students don’t mind the colder weather. The snow and freezing temperatures are just a part of the campus experience.
George lambadis, biology major, advises students to, “try to not spend a lot of time outside.”
