The Reverend William Barber, President of the North Carolina chapter of the NAACP, is coming to Stony Brook on Wednesday, February 18. His visit and lecture will be the Inaugural Distinguished Lecture in Working Class Studies sponsored by the Center for Study for Working Class Life at Stony Brook University.
Reverend Barber appears to be a very interesting person, based on his biography. Although he may seem relatively young, he has accomplished a great deal and is promoted as continuing on in the prophetic tradition of Cornel West and the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.. Although this event is during class time, it would be interesting to see if Dr. Barber (yes, he holds a Ph.D) lives up to the hype.
The title of his lecture is “The Moral Foundation of Worker Rights” and it will be held in the Student Activities Center Auditorium at 4:00PM on February 18.
