Come Meet the Kennedys

The Kennedys, an American folk-rock band, will be performing Sunday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. at the University Café.

Pete and Maura Kennedy will be performing versions of songs associated with Nanci Griffith, along with new songs from their fourth album.

Caroline Doctorow will open for the band, playing her own original songs. Doctorow is also an acclaimed interpreter of the songs of Nanci Griffith, Richard and Mimi Farina and Mary McCaslin.

The Kennedys concert will prove to be useful for our mobile reporting assignment. It will be easy to live tweet from the event, since most if not all of the audience members will be on their phones, taking pictures or selfies at the event. So, You won’t be the only person with their face illuminated by a big bright light.

It will also be easy to take photos and record videos because there will be plenty of people to photograph and any video of the band performing can be used for your project. Finding quotes and video interviews shouldn’t be too hard.

As a journalist if you are interested in covering this event it is important to remember a few things. Make sure that you arrive early so you can get a feel for the place. See where the band will be performing and pick a spot where you can observe the band as well as the audiences’ reactions. See if you can speak with the band either before or after the concert. Maybe even speak with audience members before the band performs.
